Design Transfigured

For an exhibition curated by Curatorsquared in Washington, D.C. by the title ‘Design Transfigured’ Edhv and Dutch Invertuals teamed up for the exhibition and graphic design.

The show will soon open in Scottsdale, Arizona for the second run. We will keep you posted on that one.

Time for dinner

It has become a tradition over the last years to open the Dutch Invertuals show with a dinner. The best way to celebrate all the hard work that has been put into the show. And always nice to see our studio in a totally different context.

from January 24-May 17, 2020

After the show in New York ‘Design by Time’ has now landed in Raleigh, North Carolina at the Gregg Museum of Art & Design.

An exhibition with work from 22 international designers portraying time and its dynamic effects on fashion, furniture, textiles, vessels, and more.

In this exhibition, the featured designers employ all manner of influences – chemistry, crystallization, magnetism, astronomy, oceanography, and the more expected forms of drawing, music and weaving – to portray relationships between time and creation, its relationship with nature, and its inevitability. The objects on display reveal a partnership of sorts between each designer and their chosen materials, and how that relates to the intersection of space and time. The resulting textiles, vessels, objects, fashions, clocks and calendars depict “Time as Creator,” “Time Performed,” and “Time Visualized” offering wide-ranging responses to the questions of how time is spent, how time can function either as a collaborator or a force to overcome, and, ultimately, how time’s complexity inspires a wealth of interpretation.

With work by: Atelier Mark Sturkenboom; Auger-Loizeau; Maarten Baas; BeatWoven; Sebastian Brajkovic; Hussein Chalayan; Edhv, Architects of Identity; Patrick Frey; Front; Glithero; Marlène Huissoud; Humans since 1982; William Lamson; Mathieu Lehanneur; mischer’traxler studio; Jacob Olmedo; Diana Scherer; Sebastian Cox Workshop; Bartholomäus Traubeck; Nicole Wermers; Jólan van der Wiel; and Ryan Mario Yasin. This exhibition and companion publication are supported in part by a grant from the Creative Industries Fund NL, and as part of the Dutch Culture USA program by the Consulate General of the Netherlands in New York.

Design by Time is organized by the Department of Exhibitions, Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, New York, and is co-curated by Ginger Gregg Duggan and Judith Hoos Fox of c2 curatorsquared.

The Circle

Milan was a success once again! For its 10 Year anniversary, Dutch Invertuals invited a group of pioneering Invertuals, and a selection of emerging talents, to take on the task to redesign one of the most iconic shape in the universe: The Circle.

The exhibition was well received and our new work Unheritage sparked alot of important conversation around the value of objects and the act of collecting cultural history.

A big thank you to everyone who came down to celebrate this occasion with us, and we look forward to conitnuing the party at DDW 2019.

We are happy to share that Morphodynamic and Time Writers are currently travelling with the exhibition: Design by Time by CuratorSquared. The exhibition had its first opening at Pratt Manhattan Gallery, New York earlier this February, so we took the opportunity to sneak out and explore New York!

Peoples powerhouse

Libraries or a hot topic in the age of digital. there is a worldwide shift of the institution from ‘a place of books’ to ‘a place for people.’ And everywhere its role is being redefined. Recently we presented the strategic vision of the Eindhoven library.  The intention of this presentation was an open dialogue with the people in order to incorporate their needs and ideas. Now we are heading for phase II.

Ambassadors dinner

During Dutch Design Week our studio was the venue of the DDW Ambassadors dinner. A dinner organised by DDW around the personal networks of the DDW ambassadors. For the occasion a special Ramen chef from Milan came over and did his thing ‘pop-up kitchen style.’
