This is the first part of an exhibition about ideas concerning the ‘Blue carpet’. The old Philips area in the city. This particular piece by Remco van de Craats is based on streetlevel communication. It shows the interpretation of three different people that walk around a square in Eindhoven. The images are like street level micromarketing. Stickers, tags and car brands. These items are defining the identities of the streets by constantly sending a message. It depends on the receiver what to make of them.
“I took pictures of all the little items I encountered when I was walking around the square. I used PhotoStitch, which is a program for connecting images to panoramas, to connect the images. This gives unexpected results and in my opinion reflects the randomness of walking in the streets”.
