Strengthening a sense of place

Across Europe, city centres are evolving. What were once primarily shopping destinations are becoming more diverse urban environments where living, working, culture, hospitality and leisure increasingly come together.

This transition is especially relevant for Eindhoven. As a city shaped by industry, technology and innovation, efficiency has long influenced its urban development. But with rapid growth comes a new challenge: preserving a strong sense of place while creating room for change.

That’s why we’re currently developing a vision and strategy to strengthen the distinct identities of Eindhoven’s inner-city areas. Together with entrepreneurs, property owners, cultural organisations and other stakeholders, we’re defining clear area profiles that can guide future development and reinforce what makes each part of the city unique.

By translating a shared vision into practical tools and guidelines, the strategy aims to help create an inner city that is coherent, recognisable and inviting, for residents, visitors and entrepreneurs.
